My Christmas Creation! #AVeryMerryDollarTreeChallenge

Hello Lovelies!!

I recently watched a video on Graceful + Lovely which was a challenge to create a Christmas centerpiece using only items from the Dollar store. I really enjoyed Lori's centerpiece and the other ladies' creations as well! I thought it looked like fun, so I decided to join in the challenge myself!
I went to The Dollar Store here in town & found a lot of really cute Christmas stuff! I was surprised at how many things I really wanted. As I perused the aisles I decided that I wanted to do a floral arrangement - something simple, but pretty. I found all of the faux flowers and was immediately drawn to the white poinsettias, then I saw the little golden flowers and thought what could be more perfect than white and gold?! I love the combination of white and gold, it's so simple and beautiful. Also, mint/aqua and gold - because that is also beautiful. Or turquoise and gold. Or..I just like gold ok!
Anyways, I was thinking that I would get a vase and pour in some white paint to make the vase look different and also hide the stems; however I could not find any white paint. I decided I would just go with the vase and flowers and figure out something else as I went along. I decided to check the Christmas aisles one more time. That's when I spotted the silver/gold rope garland and something just clicked and I thought to myself - "Self, this might just work!!" (Ok, so that did not actually happen that way - I don't really talk to myself like that, but I did just get inspiration to put the garland in the vase and lo and behold it looked great!) The vase looks almost like mercury glass with the garland on the inside and that was just perfect!

I hurried home with my Christmas goodies and promised myself that I would get to play with all of it as soon as I had studied for a couple of hours. The longest hours!! It didn't take me too long to get the flowers arranged in the vase and I really love how it turned out! I really enjoyed putting the flowers together and moving different flowers to different areas. As I was looking at my masterpiece on my desk (because I don't have a big table) I remembered I had also purchased some tissue paper, some garland, ornaments, and some super cute bells that had an acorn cap!

I put the plaid tissue paper, I LOVE plaid!!, down like a table runner and placed the vase in the middle. I added the plain garland around the vase and then the golden glittery ornaments down the "table" in a line. I still wanted to keep it simple & pretty. I couldn't resist adding the bells over the garland - they were just too cute!! Acorns!!

Overall, I really love how the whole thing came together! It was so much fun to put everything together and to see the final masterpiece!!

Thank you for reading! If you would like to join in the challenge please do! :) The only rules are:
1.) Create a DIY Christmas centerpiece
2.) Everything has to be from the Dollar Tree
3.) Get creative and have fun!

Also, add the tag: #AVeryMerryDollarTreeChallenge so that we can all see what you create! :) (You can also tag @loridarks in your videos as the creator of this awesome challenge)

It's been awhile

I haven't been posting. I let the opinions and the fear of judging stop me from doing something I find to be super fun. Why do we do this? I have loved reading style and fashion blogs for a long time now and have wanted to start my own, so I did. Sort of. I really love when bloggers have posts of their outfits out and about with a beautiful or fun background outside. But I always get nervous or afraid of what other people will think when they see me taking photos of myself out in public. I get self conscious about how people might think I am ridiculous or egotistical or just stupid. Why do I care though!? I don't know these people! They don't have anything to do with my life, they don't give me any support or provide any bit of helpfulness in my life - so why would I give any weight to any negative thought/opinion that they may or may not be having?
I am going to face my fears and take my photos like I've always wanted to. It isn't going to be easy and I am going to have to give myself a pep talk, but I think it'll be worth it.
I think it's important to do things that scare us because we can grow and learn more about ourselves. We are strong and smart and we can do it! (whatever "it" is! ^_^ )
Another reason I would really like to start this is because if I don't take these photos of myself, who will? I don't have a ton of photos of myself that aren't selfies. I want to see how I change and grow over the years. This might be arrogant or egotistical, but that is someone else's opinion. I want to have photos that show different times and events in my life!

**I'm aware that this isn't a big, dangerous fear. I know that there are people who face serious danger, life-threatening situations everyday, and this isn't even close to being on the same level. I'm not trying to claim that it is in any way. **
